~ The title, Scattered Souls, for me, implies that the sufferings of Kashmiris are scattered yet infused painfully, like a deep wound, in their souls for as long as they’re alive & passed on as the heritage of being born a Kashmiri.
~ Being a Kashmiri myself, I could vouch for the truth living in these stories even though it’s fiction.
~ The writing style is simple yet the subtle meaning between the lines gives each story its strength.
~ Right after finishing the first story, I eagerly looked forward to how other stories would conclude. And, I wasn’t disappointed.
~ With stories ranging from 13-16 pages or less, @shahnazbashir.official definitely has done a good job in covering different aspects of conflict. Be it loyalty to brother in the face of conflict, woman atrocities (as woman, wife, mother) as a conflict survivor, intertwined emotions of different members of a family as a victim of conflict & so on. Also, conflict doesn’t really allow the space for everyone to re-start a life. Some stay trapped in its claws. In fact, everyone does but some can’t even carve a way out no matter how far they move away from it.
~ The writing is detailed. Minute details lead you to imagine a proper background to each story.
~ I’m yet to finish this one but it definitely is worth reading.
