~ Sometimes, we’re used to the “usual” & believe it’s all there is. While it’s perfectly okay to cling to usual if that’s all you want but stepping out can be worthy sometimes too. Well, I’ve been reading books that I “usually” don’t read. Only The Good Die Young being one.
~ Only The Good Die Young, as a title fascinated me because death definitely doesn’t hold you at a particular age. It’s there. Always. With the infant. Beside the elderly. Meant for everyone. Its imprints everywhere, in everything. What’s your opinion?
~ Now coming to the book, it’s mainly centered around two characters – Dhruv & Anuradha who after finding their way to each other lose it to time.
~ The title comes to life in first chapter through another character – Siddharth who reflects hatred & revenge to the point that you can sense it between the pages.
~ While this book is not something I would usually prefer, given to the genres I prefer, & given to its storyline not being extremely unique, its pace, crisp chapters, & clarity driven writing is something that kept me going ahead. The characters are crafted distinctly & each emotion they feel is given a characteristic space.
~The shifting narratives, the story written from the point of view of different characters is also a good point to this book , adding multiple layers to it.
~ I’m yet to finish this book but I’m eager to know how author has potrayed the title in the story. At this point,I can say, I didn’t find it making way to my favorites or must-reads. However, lately I haven’t read too much, but this being a fast paced read will help me to get going with reading. Hopefully.
